In Memory of Dwayne McDuffie, Comic Illustrator and Creator of Static Shock, a teenage African American superhero, I searched my archives to find that I had wrote a piece about him back in 2006. McDuffie was in Wilmington, NC for the Cine Noir film festival to receive the 2006 Cine Noir Trailblazer Award. What follows are my observations and a transcript of the Q and A between McDuffie and the audience.

Changing The Game teaser
Changing the Game - Coming to theaters in 2011
“Changing the Game” is a searing universal drama from Philly filmmaker Rel Dowdell that chronicles the life of a young African-American, who spends his childhood on the mean streets of North Philadelphia. Raised by his grandmother, he ends up going to an Ivy League school, shines bright and ends up landing the American dream job on Wall Street. His life takes the most serious of turns when he realizes that Wall Street is a lot like growing up on the mean streets of North Philadelphia.

Interview with film director Rel Dowdell
The Actors Lounge interviews film director Rel Dowdell
The last I wrote about Rel Dowdell (on my now defunct website, video2edit.com), he was promoting his new film, "Train Ride." This time around he is working on his next film, "Changing The Game," and it should hit the theaters some time next year. Written and directed by Dowdell, the story is about how our antagonist, Darrell Barnes, finds out that life on the streets and life in the corporate world are very similar, and all too familiar, when his career and his life are threatened by a corporate scandal.
Changing The Game has an all-star ensemble cast that includes:
Tony Todd- Curtis the Diabolical
Irma P. Hall- Grandma Barnes
Angel Lola Luv- Reba Jones
Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones- “Craig Jenkins”
Ronny Cox- Segar Thuns
Charles Napier- Commissioner Gordon
Gano Grills- Obul Metha
Suzzanne Douglas- Mrs. Lewis, Kindergarten School Teacher
Check out this in-depth interview of Rel Dowdel on Tony Langford's The Actor's Lounge.

Black Dynamite
If you are a fan of the 70s blaxploitation films, Black Dynamite is a throwback that should be a treat for you. You can check out the screening at The Los Angeles Film Festival, Thu, Jun 25th 8:00pm at the Ford Amphitheatre. The festival runs from June 18-28.
Black Dynamite is an irresistible silky smooth brother who can turn stone-cold, kung fu fighting machine in a hot second. Ghetto godfather, he keeps the thugs and low-lifes in check on the streets and the lovely ladies and honeys mad with heat. When he hears the devastating news that some hustlers iced his younger brother, someone’s going to pay. But then he stumbles on an even bigger travesty — someone is slanging smack to the neighborhood orphanage!
Hosted by the Organization of Black Screenwriters (OBS)/Black Hollywood Education & Resource Center (BHERC), Black Dynamite stars Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Arsenio Hall, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Byron Minns and Kym Whitley. The film is directed by: Scott Sanders.
Show date: Thu, Jun 25th 8:00pm Ford Amphitheatre $12.00
Ford Amphitheatre 2580 Cahuenga Blvd East, Hollywood, CA 90068
Festival passes and individual screenings tickets can be purchased on the web site or over the phone at 866.FILMFEST (345-6337).
